San Diego Lawyer Killed in Las Vegas Mass Shooting

San Diego lawyer killed in Las Vegas shooting

Our hearts go out to all the victims of the Las Vegas shooting and their families. Each and every loss is an unspeakable tragedy. We wish the hundreds of people injured a very speedy recovery.

Jennifer IrvineOf the 59 people confirmed dead, we know that at least one was a lawyer: Jennifer T. Irvine, 42, who practiced criminal defense and family law in San Diego. Irvine was also a graduate of the University of San Diego and California Western School of Law.

According to her website, Irvine opened her own firm because she loved working directly with her clients and having a “hands-on” approach to each case. “Jennifer has a genuine passion for assisting clients during what can be an extremely difficult and overwhelming time in their lives,” the site explains. “Jennifer puts her clients’ interests first. She works to find creative settlements; however, she is also a tenacious litigator who strives to achieve the best outcome for her clients.”

Irvine was also very adventurous, hoping to skydive and learn indoor rock climbing this year.

However, what’s most telling is what people say about her. For instance, one of Irvine’s friends for almost ten years told ABC10News that she “literally one of the kindest, sweetest people I’ve ever met. She was always so generous and loving, anybody that came across her path was not a stranger; they were always a friend.” Others on Facebook described her as “selfless,” “full of life,” and a “shining light.” One wrote, “The world has lost an angel.”

There are no words except that our thoughts are with Irvine’s loved ones. We at Rocket Matter are deeply sorry for your great loss.

Julia Roberts Is All Smiles on the November Covers of UK Harper’s Bazaar

You’ll often hear our forum members ranting about how repetitive UK Harper’s Bazaar can be, forever insisting on shooting cover stories in the English countryside. The magazine appears to have heard our cries with the unveiling of two November 2017 covers featuring a glowing Julia Roberts at the beach in Malibu, California. Photographed by Alexi Lubomirski, People‘s Most Beautiful Woman in the World looks effortless and at ease on the subscribers cover (below) and flashes her famous smile in a lush red Ralph & Russo gown on the newsstand cover (after the jump).

Members of our forums were quick to show the magazine some love this month. “Lovely! Her smile is priceless,” admired Nymphaea the moment the cover struck.

Apple expressed the same sentiments: “So lovely! That smile is worth a million!”

“She’s smiling like she finally got her long-awaited revenge. Now that all her business is taken care of she can finally relax!” GivenchyHomme chimed in.

“Wow, it’s her best cover in years! And I love this palette of colors,” voiced narcyza.

Honeycombchild was also a fan, saying, “Great image and color scheme. It’s a way we’ve seen Julia many times but it’s definitely the best way she photographs so it’s always lovely to see!”

Benn98 wrote, “Simply stylish. Their take on fashion is really very masterful. It’s always the story or woman before the fashion.”

“She’s the Christy Turlington of actresses! Flawless,” complemented A.D.C.

However, the newsstand cover (below) wasn’t to everyone’s taste. “The subscribers cover is a masterpiece, the newsstand cover is a mess,” declared tigerrouge.

“I love how the subscribers cover is so effortless. Beautiful! The newsstand cover is not doing it for me. The smile is gorgeous. But overall, it feels heavy,” noted MON.
